We are very excited to announce that we’ve been working behind the scenes since July to launch our own Spay and Neuter Clinic Program in Bastrop County. On October 28th, we signed an MOU with the County of Bastrop allowing us to utilize the Mary E. Barina Pet Wellness & Spay/Neuter Center at the Bastrop County Animal Shelter.
This program is designed to provide Bastrop County residents on a fixed-income with the resources needed to be responsible pet parents. These pet parents love their animals, they just can’t afford the hundreds of dollars that it would normally cost to fix and provide wellness care to their pets.
We’re piloting our first clinic day on Saturday, December 14th. After that, our goal is to host a clinic every other Saturday in 2020. Spaying and neutering 25 to 30 pets each day.
Community outreach, education, and high-volume, low-cost spay and neuter are the solutions to breaking the never-ending cycle of pet homelessness. No matter how many dogs and cats we rescue, we are certainly changing the world for those pets, but only making a dent in the overpopulation crisis that hundreds of thousands of other animals face each and every day.
